Grantee Profile: Cowiche Canyon Conservancy

The mission of the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy is to promote a healthy future for its community by conserving the heritage of open space, scenic vistas and riparian corridors from Yakima to the Cascade foothills with connected recreation trails and natural landscapes. A nonprofit membership organization, CCC is particularly dedicated to preserving, enhancing and maintaining the essential features of shrub-steppe and riparian terrain within the Cowiche Creek and Naches River watershed areas in the Yakima Valley region of Washington state, including the Cowiche Canyon, its adjacent undeveloped uplands and Snow Mountain Ranch.

Recent Grant History:

2008 - $10,000 To increase conservation awareness and protect sensitive habitat in the North Cascades foothills. Grassroots Fund

2008 - $3,000 To develop a strategic plan in order to effectively carry out the long-term goal of protecting conservation values in Yakima's Cowiche Canyon. Opportunity Fund
