Funding Areas
The Brainerd Foundation's mission is to protect the environment of the Northwest and to build broad citizen support for conservation. We accomplish this in part by making grants that invest in:
- State-level policy priorities that build a track record of success and demonstrate the benefits of pro-conservation policies to communities and policy leaders
- Place-based conservation strategies that engage diverse and strategic constituencies
- The capacity and effectiveness of conservation advocates
With these strategies in mind, grants are awarded within these funding areas:
- Conservation Policy
- Place-based Conservation
- Conservation Capacity
- Catalyst Fund
- Grassroots Fund
- Opportunity Fund
Successful applicants for grant funding from any of these areas will be involved in programs that augment regional conservation efforts within the following geographic funding regions:
- Washington
- Oregon
- Idaho
- Montana
- Alaska
- British Columbia
- the Yukon Territory
